Will Reid's DesertXpress Bullet-Train Save His Bacon?

DesertXpress
Was I a little hard on Senator Reid of Nevada in the last gambling regulations article? Probably so, I lean left so far that my gyro gets a little whacko sometimes. I have one focus here and that is an easy transition, a fair transition from my current favorite online casinos to those that I will play at when the US finally gets their collective poop in one sock. Sanctioned online gambling is coming; just like an asteroid colliding with the planet, it is a matter of when not 'IF'.

The honorable Senator seems to be focused on protecting and creating jobs for his constituents, just as he should in this mess of an economy. I tarred him rather harshly for abandoning Mr. Frank's efforts to normalize online gaming in favor of covering his a$$.

Anyone who thought that a Senator from Nevada leading the Senate was a good thing for online gamblers was delusional, pure and simple; even if that Senator has been in Washington for over 25 years and knows his committee leaders and members intimately. Read on....

Mr. Reid had to focus on one thing to try to overcome the hysteria. He had to make a high speed rail system that would funnel people's wallets into Las Vegas a reality.

Recently, standing side by side with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Reid announced that Southern Californians would soon be able to hop a rail to Sin City, just like that.

Kudos Harry, Kudos. The DesertXpress should be named after you.

The last administration saw (caused) the loss of about eight million jobs, three and a half million have been recovered under the current administration but Reid admits, that is simply not enough.

Senator Reid kept the Senate in continuous session longer than any other leader in American history and still they were not able to fix the damage done.

I don't pray and I don't vote in Nevada but my thoughts and well wishes are with the good Senator. If he retains office by the skin of his teeth, he will surely have learned something about the people he works for. A good jogging of the memory never hurts.

Get back there and give ‘em hell, Harry!!!

Editorial: SOURCE The DesertXpress Website:

DesertXpress is an interstate high-speed rail (HSR) project that will link Las Vegas, Nevada and Southern California with standard gauge fully electric high speed trains. The project will run primarily adjacent to Interstate 15. A designated Corridor of the Future, I-15 is the only freeway between Las Vegas, Nevada and Los Angeles, California.

DesertXpress will provide non-stop service for the approximate 190 miles between Victorville, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. Trains will travel between the two cities in approximately 80-minutes at speeds initially reaching 150 mph. A future link between Victorville, California and Palmdale, California will connect Las Vegas and the voter-approved California High Speed Rail network with planned Southern California stations in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and San Bernardino Counties.

DesertXpress is one of a few key projects across the country that will provide a foundation for high speed rail infrastructure. High speed rail represents the future of sustainable, green, high capacity and efficient transportation in the United States. Through private sector investment, DesertXpress meets America’s need for passenger rail infrastructure with a system that promises interoperability and regional connectivity.

Slated to begin construction in 2011, test operations are scheduled to begin in 2013. Full service is expected to begin by the end of 2014.
