World's Largest Casino Resort ~ The Venetian Macao

The Venetian Macao
Around three and a half years ago the largest casino resort in the world opened in China; Macau specifically. It is a mega resort that's run by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, who are responsible for many exceptional casino resorts around the world.

The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel is of course designed in Venetian style and it has 3,000 suites, an exhibition and convention center that's 120,000 square feet and a 15,000 seat entertainment compound, The Cotai Arena.

The Venetian® Macao offers their guests over 350 unique retail stores in the 'Grand Canal Shoppes', where guests will find themselves surrounded by the world's finest brands as they stroll along the winding cobblestone walkways or relax in one of the 51 authentic gondola rides available. Enchanting sounds of the Streetmosphere™ performers and the singing gondoliers metamorphose The Grand Canal Shoppes into the romantic sounds of old world Venice.

A huge 1800 seat theater venue offers a 90-minute Cirque du Soleil performance called; ZAİA™. ZAİA is a performance show that features dance movement and aerial acrobatics. Ascending to the farthest reaches of space and human beauty, a young girl journeys on a strange but yet familiar voyage of self-discovery and learns the beauty of humanity and self-awareness.

This casino has been appropriately named the Venetian after it's namesake in Vegas but not to be mistaken with the one in Las Vegas. They are most definitely similar in the qualities they both offer but are still uniquely different. The gaming space itself is 550,000 square feet at the Venetian Macao and there is an astounding 3,400 slot machines in total and 870 game tables! It says it's the biggest building in Asia, and the largest casino in the world!

The total cost of the Venetian Macao was 2.4 billion dollars. Just to try and put the enormous size of this complex into perspective; the total size is equivalent to 56 football fields and it's big enough to park close to 100 Boeing 747 jumbo jets inside!

Like the Venetian in Las Vegas, there is a lot of Venice theme to this casino resort. But it's also combined a bit of a Chinese influence as well to keep it true to the area. There are canals that run through the area, with both Italian and Chinese style boats that go along it. There is also a replica of Venice's St. Mark's Square.

"The new resort will hopefully boost the retail, restaurant and entertainment businesses in Macau," American billionaire Sheldon Adelson, chairman of Las Vegas Sands, stated at the opening ceremony of the project. In addition to this new project, there are plans from this group to open a number of new hotels. It already has a couple of casinos in Macao, including the Sands Macao which is known as one of the best casinos in the world. It is expected as a result that this casino will follow suit!

People are beginning to speculate that with this new casino in the area and more being added, Macau will become an even more popular destination for gambling than Las Vegas! Gambling is a major industry in Macao already, 70 percent of the government's annual revenue comes from gambling related taxes.

The pool parties at the Macao Venetian certainly do look to be entertaining. If you have the means to get away to the Orient then we highly recommend this Asian mega-resort destination as your next retreat!

Located on Cotai Strip®, The Venetian Macao is only an hour's ride from Hong Kong by ferry and only a 5-minute drive from the Taipa Ferry Terminal. If you are arriving at the Macau International Airport or from the Zhuhai-Macau border gates, you can take the complimentary Cotai Shuttles to The Venetian Macao.
