You know, I wish I had a time machine. I would use that time machine to go back to a better time for online poker and online casinos, which is about 15 years ago when gambling online was in its infancy.
To this day, I still remember my first taste of playing poker online, which was at Planet Poker. I hate to admit it, but at the time I didn't know any other game but 7 card stud, so I took quite a beating at the Hold'Em tables. I was one of those “More Money Than Brains” type players and went broke a good number of times, but learned quite a lot from the experiences.
But, I digress. This article is about how the United States is becoming a police state. A hardworking, tax paying, law abiding citizen can't even have fun in their own private home by playing a few hands of poker or spinning the slots a few times, without the Government stepping in and saying “What you're doing is in a gray area right now, but for now, we're going to say that it's illegal and therefore, we're not going to allow you to do it.”
One case of this great Police State of America is this video below at ebaumsworld where many people were arrested for Dancing, of all things. What the hell? As you can see, nobody was violent or aggressive in any way. They weren't trying to induce a riot or anything of the sort. Nada. Nothing. Heck, one couple was arrested for Kissing!
Luckily for us, some brave soul stood up and captured this whole incident on camera. You can watch said video below:
This next video is about a Marine Veteran (2 tours of Iraq) who woke up to SWAT officers busting into his home just two hours after he got off of work from the mine. He was subsequently killed after said SWAT team officers fired a whopping 71 rounds in 7 seconds. Yes, he had his gun drawn and he was in a crouched position, but ffs, the safety was still on! Who's story do you believe? The SWAT officers or the story that the evidence presents?
The SWAT team was there in order to follow through on a warrant in regards to narcotics, but is it standard operating procedure for them to go in with guns drawn? They didn't even announce that they were SWAT members until AFTER they fired on the Marine. They ended up telling that fact to the now widowed wife and fatherless children that were in the house when this all happened.
Again, judge for yourself. Here's the video:
Online Gambling officially became “banned” back in 2006 when the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) was passed into law – not by vote, but by being attached to “The Security and Accountability For Every Port Act of 2006” - a law that HAD to be passed in order for our nation's ports to keep from shutting down. We have George W. Bush to thank for that.
There's been many hurdles since then, but that was the biggest. As we speak, many poker rooms are unable to take deposits from residents of the USA, let alone pay them out. Players from Full Tilt Poker are still waiting for their money. And who knows if they'll get it. The same goes for the payment processor known as QuickTender, which not only was in charge of processing deposits for players from the United States, but were responsible for withdrawals, as well.
If I had the money and ability to do so, I would move somewhere besides the USA. This is pissing me off to no end. I work hard for my money and I don't need some big government sticking their nose in my business and telling me what I can or can't do with it.
What this all boils down to, is the fact that if they can't tax the hell out of your winnings from online casinos, plus the revenue from the casinos themselves, then nobody can partake of the luxury of gambling online. They want you to head to the nearest land based casino in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Mississippi, Louisiana, etc.
I'll leave you on this note:
STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN. WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN, STATE SENATOR AND ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS AND LET THEM KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT AMERICA BECOMING A POLICE STATE.
